2008 Interview with Andy Thor
Mick Jones: Well, Andy, you must be excited to be part this project. What are you looking forward to most about recording with 2-Shots?
Andy Thor: Yes, I am really excited to be a part of the project. I’m looking forward to faithfully capturing the chemistry in the band in a recorded form before we get out gigging .
MJ: How did 2-Shots get started and who’s in the band?
AT: It was a dream project for me. After playing in a Neil Young tribute band, when that folded, I decided to continue on and put together a rockin band. We had a great rhythm section and initially it was going to be a southern rock project but with the inclusion of Steve (Gtr/vox) and Ben (Gtr/vox) it developed into a classic rock outfit.
MJ: That’s interesting. I believe you come from pretty diverse musical backgrounds. What does that add to the band’s sound?
AT: It enables the band to replicate the classic rock tunes that we play but everyone brings their own influences to the mix. So while we try to stay faithful to the originals, you can’t help noticing everyone adds something to the overall sound. I guess you’ll need to wait to hear the finished tracks to see what I mean.
MJ: So, what are the influences in the band and how would you describe the sound?
AT: The band has a strong connection to the blues, southern rock and classic rock tunes that everyone knows. The band’s sound is similar to that. True classic rock I guess – you know, kick-arse rhythm section, two lead guitarist ... includes Steve who is our lead vocalist .
MJ: What’s coming next for the band?
AT: We're close to finishing rehearsals on an expanded set list and soon after that we'll be entertaining the masses playing great rock and roll across Sydney and beyond.
MJ: Well, sounds like it all kicking off for 2-Shots. Thanks for your time.
AT: Thanks, mate.
